Why Are Some Sizes in Odd Millimetres?
Figures such as 305 x 229 x 152 started life as inch sizes (12 x 9 x 6) and are still common because shelving, pallets and packing benches were built around them. Rounded metric sizes like 400 x 300 x 200 are just as easy for us to make. Use whichever fits your product.
How Do You Pick the Right Size From the Table?
Start from the product, not the box. Measure the item at its widest points, add room for any wrapping, then look for the row that is equal or slightly larger on every side. If nothing is close, type your own size into the form.
- Measure length, width and height of the packed item.
- Add 5 to 10 mm each way for wrap or void fill.
- Find the nearest row that is not smaller on any side.
- Check the suggested board against the weight of the contents.
- Press Quote, add a quantity and your email.
Does the Board Change the Outside Size?
Yes. Every size here is the inside measurement. Single wall adds a few millimetres on each side, and double wall adds more. Where the finished box has to suit a shelf, a locker or a parcel band, give us that outer limit and we calculate the largest inside size that fits.
- Single wall E flute adds very little to the outside
- Single wall B or C flute adds a few millimetres a side
- Double wall BC flute adds the most, roughly twice single wall

Sizes and Board
What is the most common shipping box size?
305 x 229 x 152 mm in single wall B flute is one of the most ordered everyday parcel sizes, closely followed by 400 x 300 x 200 mm.
Which box suits a pair of trainers or shoes?
A mailer of about 350 x 250 x 120 mm fits most adult shoe boxes. Measure your shoe box and add a few millimetres.
Is a cube box a good idea?
Cube boxes suit round or tall items such as jars, mugs and plants. They can waste space with flat goods, so measure first.
What size are removal boxes?
Medium removal boxes are often around 470 x 310 x 300 mm, with larger ones near 510 x 380 x 380 mm for bedding and clothes.
Do the sizes include the flaps?
No. Inside length, width and height are measured with the box closed, between the inner faces of the board.
Can you make very long boxes?
Yes. Long, narrow boxes for poles, rolls and panels are quoted on request, usually in double wall board.
Is it possible to combine different sizes on one order?
Yes. List each size with its quantity and we price them together on one quote.

Will a bigger box cost much more?
Price rises with the area of board used, so a box that is too large costs more and needs more void fill. A snug size saves twice.
Which size fits a standard ring binder or file?
An archive style box of about 380 x 300 x 260 mm holds files upright. Send the file size and we will check the fit.
My size is missing from the list. Can you still make it?
Yes. Production is per order, so we can price whatever internal dimensions you need. The table is only a starting point.
