Why Large Boxes Need Stronger Board
The bigger the panel, the more it flexes. A large box made in thin board bows outwards when packed and folds inwards when stacked. That is why most large boxes we make are double wall BC flute, and why the board recommendation on your quote matters more as the size goes up.

Long and Narrow Boxes
Poles, rails, rolls, blinds and flat-pack panels need long boxes that most stock ranges do not offer. We make long boxes to any length within production limits, usually in double wall, often as a full overlap carton so the long flaps cover the whole top.
Can Large Boxes Be Lifted Safely?
Size the box for the person carrying it as well as for the product. Keep packed weight sensible, add hand holes for grip and mark the heavy end if the load is uneven. Large boxes that need two people should say so on the outside.

How Do You Measure a Large Item?
Measure across the bulkiest points, counting legs, handles, knobs and anything else that juts out. Then decide how it will be protected: corner blocks, wrapping or a full surround of padding.
- Measure length, width and height including protrusions.
- Decide on corner protection or wrapping.
- Add the padding thickness to each side.
- Check the outside size against doors, vans or pallets.
- Send the inside size and the quantity.
Printing on Large Boxes
Large panels give plenty of room for a logo, handling marks and product details. Bold 1 or 2 colour designs suit double wall best. Many trade customers print a product code panel so boxes can be identified in a warehouse at a glance.
Large Boxes for Moving and Storage
For household moves and storage, standard removal sizes work best because they stack evenly in a van. See our removal and storage boxes for those sizes. For one-off big items, a made-to-size large box is the better fit.
What Do Large Boxes Cost?
Price rises with board area and grade, so large double wall boxes cost more than small single wall ones. The quote shows the exact price per box. Ordering several large sizes together spreads set-up and often helps.
Sizing Your Large Cardboard Boxes
Large boxes are quoted on the inside size in millimetres. With big boxes, the outside matters too: check that a made-up box fits through doors, into vans and onto your pallets.
For long items, send the length first and tell us whether the box will be carried by one person or two.
Board for Large Cardboard Boxes
Large boxes are usually double wall BC flute. C flute suits large but light contents such as bedding. Single wall B flute is rarely enough for very large panels.
